Busy Busy Busy.........Just Breathe

Hello everyone.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wow, when life throws curve balls, 

it throws curve balls.

It has been far too many days since I have blogged, and even more since I have created.

Oh, but this week, this girl got it done!

I have been so delighted, to be a part

of the most EXTRAORDINARY

artsy, crafty group over on Facebook,

Maremi's Creative Cafe',

started by the uber talented

Marta Lapkowska.

She began an ATC challenge

 within the group

#52 CafeCard Challenge

(ATC's just happen to be one of my very favorite things to create).

I had previously shared my first three, Art, Bubbles and Coffee.

The last three weeks, our challenge was

Dragonfly, Eclipse with this weeks being Gears.

So here are my 3 completed atc's.

Also in the midst of busy, I have acquired a few new crafty mediums and such, that I cannot wait to try,

so I will be sharing the results as I go.

On Tuesday, my wonderful husband, is having surgery on his knee, and looks to be off work for up to 4 weeks, so you know I will be escaping into my bliss of creating every chance I get.

Flea Market Shabby Romantic Bottle

Hello there,

welcome to INSPIRE.

As promised earlier this week, 

I am here to share a second project

created with items from

The Vintage Rose Emporium.

How is this for an "upcycle" project?

A "Flea Market Shabby Bottle".

The floral print design, is actually a napkin

from VRE.

As it turns out, I used the entire napkin 

on this project.

I prepped the bottle by removing the labels

with warm soapy water.

Once thoroughly dried, I applied 2 coats of gesso, and 1 coat of milk paint, in shabby pink.

To apply napkin to the bottle, I first removed the second blank layer of the napkin

to enhance a near see through effect

for the chalk paint to show through the design.

I then applied the napkin with a matte medium.

I also dry brushed gesso very lightly over the napkin, to complete the shabby look.

I had an antique glass door know in my personal stash, that was perfect for the top of the bottle.

I used a variety of VRE items to finish the look, including a rhinestone buckle, satin trimmed sheer ribbon wrapped around the neck of the bottle, and through the buckle, flat back pearl trim, and heart appliqués.

I have got to say, I think I am in love with 

this project, and how shabby it turned out.

Valentine Heart Shaped Box & Greeting Card

Hello everyone,

welcome to INSPIRE.

Gosh can you even believe that

Valentines Day is only a couple of weeks away? 

That is why I am so excited to bring to you may latest project for 

The Vintage Rose Emporium (VRE),

a heart shaped box & greeting card.

I started the project with a paper mache'

heart shaped box as my base, which was part of January featured kit for VRE, and also featured luxurious rhinestone buckles, ribbon, trim, embellishments & appliqués.

I used matte medium to adhere patterned paper that coordinated throughout the design.

I used distressing ink on all edges on the lid and box.

The adorable cupid cherub, also an item from VRE, I wanted to be the centerpiece of the box lid, I first gave it a couple of squirts with an iridescent spray to add shimmer and surrounded it with paper flowers (personal stash), BEAUTIFUL rhinestone appliqué flowers cut from the additional bow appliqué.

I also featured the VRE satin trimmed sheer pink ribbon, for a delicate balance for the lid.

To complete the look, I used flat backed pearl trim lightly "glazed" with the distress ink I used around the edges of the box, and white lace trim, also from VRE, to bring the look together.

For the card,

I used a 5x5 card base, some of the leftover paper, paper flowers and additional VRE ribbon, rhinestone buckle, and appliqué, to coordinate with the box.

I have to say, by far, this has been my all time favorite Valentines Day project EVER!

52 Café Card Challenge Maremi's Creative Café Week 3 Coffee

Hi everybody.

I can't believe I am posting 2 days in row, but I just had to share today's fun creative endeavor.

This week's subject this week for the

 52 Café Card Challenge over at 

Maremi's Creative Cafe FB group

is coffee, and what crafter doesn't like a good cup of coffee?

For this atc I used heavy ivory cardstock, cut in the 2.5 x3.5 size.

I used a polka dot folder to emboss the solid tealish color cardstock,  with a coffee look distress ink on the edges as the background for the whimsical polka dot tag of my design.

Using a phrase found in the

 Silhouette Design Store, and a fussy cut image of a gal with a cup of coffee, a couple of coordinating flowers & coffee like embellishments, it came together quite nicely.

Café Card Challenge Maremi's Creative Café

Hello Everyone!

Well, my time frame the last couple of weeks has gone from busy to busier.

I finally had time today to get

some creative time in

And what FUN it was.

Over at Maremi's Creative Café 

(a Facebook group)

there is a challenge going on, 

a Café Card Challenge, 

In which this month's challenge happens

 to be one of my 

favorite things to create, ATC's.

The first two cards to create were 

ART & BUBBLES.

 For my ART atc, I used a 3.5 x 2.5 wood card, fusing "artsy" elements of painting, music & word.

Completing the look with some paper flowers.

My BUBBLES atc, I used textured cardstock cut

 3.5 x 2.5 , a variety of gelato's and acrylic paint, to achieve an underwater bubbly scene, accented with flatback acrylic plastic embellies, and completing the design with a seahorse and seaweed.

Quite a fun challenge to take part in.

Can't wait to "C" what's next.

An Exclusive Design: Beautiful Elegant Shabby Chic Mini Top Hat

Hello Everyone.

Welcome to INSPIRE.

 

Today I want to share with you

my latest design for

The Vintage Rose Emporium.

Designed with exclusive VRE

laces, trims & appliques.

 

 

I began this project with a

3.5x6x5 linen textured paper top hat design, cut with my electric cutting machine.

 

 

Once the hat was assembled, I then entirely covered it with light weight muslin cloth

(a gift from a friend).

 

 

I followed with adding an ivory stretch lace from my personal stash on the shaft of the top hat.

 

I glued a gorgeous venice lace as the hat's band, followed by two pearl strands, one in ivory, one in bronze, to embellish the band.

For the top of the hat shaft, I added large ivory fabric rosettes, and ivory braided trim.

 

 

On the edge of the brim of the hat, I used a champagne braided trim.

 

 

On one side of the hat, I added a beautiful sequined applique, and gilded gold leave appliques.

I also created 3 pearl embellished designs from additional venice lace, to add as focal points on both sides and back of the top hat.

 

 

 

 

I complete the design, I some ivory tulle for the back of the hat, feathers and more ivory flat pearl stands throughout the entire design.

 

 

A very lovely top hat indeed.

Something Cheerful

Hello everyone!

Welcome to INSPIRE.

 

It has been far to long since I have shared any creativity with you, today, that drought ends.

 

A couple of months ago, I had started to create an 8x10 mixed media canvas, but kind of got stumped on where to go after adding paper remnants and some gesso.

 

 

 

This week, I found myself inspired, and finally completed this canvas for my "art" wall in my crafting space.

 

I wanted something cheerful & inspiring, and I think I have accomplished that.

 

I used a great variety of products and techniques on this project.

Including gesso, matte medium, texture paste, paint, distress inks & markers, spray ink,

embellishments, digi prints, stencils, scraps of paper and chipboard.

 

 

The early stages of the canvas.

 

 

I added an additional coat of gesso before adding any ink or paint.

 

Using my finger, I created "bubbles" with paint, creating dimension in colors and shading.

 

 

I used stencils in text & honeycomb design with texture paste in the background designs.

 

Finishing the design, I used gesso dry brushed over the entire canvas.
