BoHo Inspired Jars With Magical Mysteries How To

Hello Creatives!
Welcome to INSPIRE!

Today I want to share a quick tutorial,
on how to up-cycle a simple glass jar,
and turn it into something "MAGICAL".

My latest obsession is the oh so yummy
Oui Yogurt, specifically the Mango Oui Yogurt.
YUMMO!!!!!

The jars are starting to pile up, so it is time
to do something crafty with these gems.

First, cleaning the jars.
These labels are tough to remove!

I soaked them in scalding hot water, and once I could get a corner lose in soak, I peeled the labels from the jar.

To remove the tack left behind, I used Best Cleaner Ever by ScraPerfect, which is an environmentally safe cleaner.

Once the tack was removed, I washed with soapy warm water, and towel dried.

For one jar, I chose a mini stencil for the design.
Using Nuvo Crystal Drops in Clear, I traced the stencil design unto the jar.

I then reached for Rita Barakat's Magical Mysteries Embossing Powder in Kiss of the Fairy and applied over the Nuvo Crystal Drop design.

For the rim and bottom, I added Magical Mysteries EP in Midnight Magic.

Using my heat tool, I set the first application of the embossing powder, and while the area was still warm, I added another coating of the powder.

To give each jar a jeweled look, I used the embossing ink applied to the smooth area's of the jars, and applied the embossing powders, setting the powders with heat tool and reapplying until I had achieved desired finish.

So, if you are like me, and have jars saying
around that can be given new life, reach for
Magical Mysteries Embossing Powders
and create something beautiful too!

My New Adventures In The Craft World: Part One, YouTube Live

Hello Creatives!
Welcome to INSPIRE.

I have been quite busy these last few weeks, with family matters, and birthdays and so on and so on.

My crafting time has been somewhat limited too
keeping my design team responsibilities in order, and that is about all.

However, there has been an occasional Tuesday or two, when I had been asked to join two FABULOUS crafters, in their weekly YouTube Live sessions.

What a blast!
I have learned much from each of them, in their creative shares, and have grown a closer bond with both.

And I have had time to "try something(s) new".
One being live!

Here is the link to the latest installment over on
Angel Dream Crafts on YouTube
featuring Kim Spade-Fuller, Kim Lippincott and myself.

And here is a look at my latest project, working along with these terrific ladies!

Canvas fabric envelopes (of sorts).
Great to stuff with ephemera and other goodies, perfect for swapping with crafty friends.

See you again real soon!

Beautiful Reverse Color Resist Card How To

Hello & Welcome to INSPIRE!

Today I want to share with a quick and easy way to make beautiful card loaded with color and detail, finished with
BEAUTIFUL Dies created by Rita Barakat.

I want to add that this card was inspired by a project recently posted by the talented & lovely Betz Golden, using  tags to create a card base.

The base of my card was created by using a smooth medium weight cardstock base, designed and cut into a large tag using my Cricut machine.

After cutting the tag, I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink pad, and an application tool, to add total color to both sides of the tag.

Once I had applied the color, I then used a branch design stencil, and diaper wipes to remove color on both sides of the tag. Then heat set the remaining color.

I chose the fold of the tag, slightly off center, to create the card base. From my stash, I added small printed script tags to create a closure of sorts for the card applied with double sided tape.

For design and salutation, I used the beautiful "Fearfully & Wonderful Made" die cut along with it's matching Floral Branch from the Be True  Dies Collection by Rita Barakat, to bring the card together.

Finishing touches were the addition of ribbon that coordinated with the dies to serve as a card closure, a blank square of white cardstock for the inside of the card, and adding a few dots of  Nuvo Crystal Drops to coordinate with the card.

And there you have it.
A beautiful card, with an even more beautiful reminder,
of just how special we are.

A Colorful Mad Hatter Paper Teacup How To

Hello Creatives!
Welcome to INSPIRE & the
Rita Barakat Designs & Marvy Blog Hop!

The product showcase today, is the fun
and GORGEOUSLY colored Bistro Chalk Markers by Marvy.

For my project, I chose to use the Mad Hatter Die Cut
from Rita's Fairytale Collection, available at her Etsy Store,
along with the Chalk Markers, to create this bright & beautiful project, a paper teacup.

I first used my Cricut machine, to cut a paper tea cup design. Using double sided tape, along with a glue, I assembled the tea cup layers.

I then cut "panels", from Chalkboard Cardstock fromCanvas Corp Brands, to be added to the teacup after decorating with Marvy Chalk Markers.

I decided to use a variety of small floral & other designed stamps for the decorating of the "panels".
Instead of using ink pads, I used the Marvy Chalk Markers to color each stamp, and then stamped upon the surface of each "panel".
I also used the Chalk Markers directly to enhance etched stamped image.

Following the same design concept as the panels, I also created a "sign" with one of the most famous quotes from Alice In Wonderland~We're All Mad Here.

Once the stamped "panels" had dried, I added them to the teacup, using glue. I had also stamped the teacup base to match the panels, and added dots of with the Chalk Markers  before adhering the handle to the teacup.

For the flower garden inside the cup, I used a styrofoam ball as the base, followed by a variety of paper flowers.

The final touches was adding the sign and the ADORABLE
Rita Barakat Mad Hatter Die Cut.

A bright and beautiful project, that would be a perfect pick me up to give as a gift, and all made possible by

Bright & Colorful Journal Page With A Shimmering Mermaid How To

Hello Creative Friends!
Welcome to INSPIRE!

Today I want to share with you my latest
Rita Barakat Designs DT project,
a bright and colorful journal page
featuring a shimmering Mermaid.

I love the ocean. My most favorite thing to do
is to sit along the beach,
and watch in wonder, as waves roll, and think about the magnificent life that lives beneath the waves.
Just imagine, a mermaid swimming to and fro beneath the waves, in search of treasures of the sea's.
And of course she would shimmer in beautiful color!

This is my inspiration of this weeks project.
And you can create one to, and here is how!

Using an outdated planner, I first prepped the pages with
white Gesso. Once dry, I used ocean themed wording scrapbook paper, torn and randomly placed, applied using Mod Podge by Plaid.

I then followed using Watercolor Paints by Plaid, along with White paint to add the colorful background. Once I had created "bubbles" I used Glitterific medium also by Plaid to a bit of glitz to the design.

Now for the BEAUTIFUL Princess Mermaid stamp created by Rita Barakat & Technique Junkies!
I first used colored pencils to lay down the color for her, then followed using coordinating glitter gel pens so that she would shimmer with beauty.

Finishing touches, I used phrases taken from
Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers, and a seashell stencil to complete the look.

A cheerful and beautiful journal layout!

Please visit the Rita Barakat Designs Etsy store to purchase this stamp, as well as a variety of other designs in stamps, embossing powders, die cut images and more!
